Tesla which is a very big company in the automobile pruducing field shows concern in the case of children being left in hot cars.
Tesla Concern for Kids
So Tesla asked for the approval of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to market a short-range interactive motion-sensing device. That could go a long way in helping children from being left behind in hot cars, and also boost theft-prevention system.
He asked for permission to make use of unlicensed milimeter-wave sensors. These millimeter-wave sensors would operate at higher power levels than allowed under existing rules. Tesla’s new device will utilize four transmitting antennas and also three receiving antennas. Which will be driven by a radar front-end unit.
He says that millimeter-wave radar technology has more advantages over other sensing systems like camera-based or in-seat detection systems.
The system provides depth perception and can see through soft materials like a blanket covering a child restraint. Tesla also added by saying that “it can differentiate between a child and an object left on the seat, reducing the likelihood of false alarms”. And can detect micromovements like heart rates and breathing patterns. And none of this can be captured by cameras or in-seat sensors alone.
Tesla also added to it by saying that radar imaging can access body size. This will help to optimize airbag deployment when involved in a crash depending on whether an adult or child is seated. This means that it would be more effective compared to the existing weight-based, in-seat systems. It would also determine when to engage seat belt reminders more accurately.
The Federal Communication Commission is seeking public comment on Tesla’s request through September 21.
Tesla also notes that the FCC granted a similar request for a device from Alphabet, Inc.’s Google. That works under identical operating meters in 2018.
