Mini is an automobile company known for its production of small-sized cars just like the Coral Red model. The Mini company has been in existence for more than fifty years.
And ever since then it has been giving to its enthusiast a great and speedy mini car at their disposal. Since then the stylist has been upgrading in designing the body with great styles and stunning colors.
Mini Coral Red Model
The stylists who designed mini took a trip to the design well and returned with a limited edition model named or perhaps called Coral Red which is inspired by the brand’s heritage.
It will come with trims. As it will be offered with either two or four doors. And is to arrive at the showroom this month according to how it was scheduled.
Just as the name “Coral Red” implies, it is based on Coral Red Metallic paint. Which is borrowed from the Mini Clubman’s palette.
It has black paint on its door mirrors and also on the roof which adds a touch of contrast. A 17-inch rail spoke wheels is also added to it. Other things include an LED light at both ends, the door handles, and a long list of piano black trim pieces which include the headlight bezels, and the emblems.
Coral Red Model Interior Looks
We haven’t been fed with photos of the interiors as it hasn’t yet been published. But it is noted that the cabin gains additional piano black trim.
And it receives a black leatherette upholstery also. No mechanical changes were made to it, so the Coral Red power comes from the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine just as the Cooper S.
And its turbocharged will release 189 horsepower @ 5,000 pm and 207 pound-feet of torque @ 1,350 rpm. Once again it also spins the front wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. But buyers who want two pedals can order a seven-speed at an additional cost.
For the American market, approx 300 examples of the Coral Red have been earmarked. And its pricing starts at $34,125 for the two-door.
While the pricing for the four-door starts from $35,370. The figures include an $850 destination charge, and it is mandatory. Diversly, the standard Cooper S costs $28,100 for a two-door version. And $29,100 for a four-door.
Older Relative Model
However the pinkish Coral Red comes from the Clubman, and the first mini to be painted with something like this was the “1100 Special Model” which was introduced in 1979 as it was used to celebrate Mini’s 20th anniversary.
It was exclusively sold in England. The 1100 special model was available in two metallic colors which are the rose and the silver-grey. The rose was close to 2020’s Coral Red hue.
The silver-colored cars featured a black vinyl roof. While the Rose cars were topped with beige vinyl and black stripes above both rocker panels.
Wired tires wrapped around 10-inch alloy wheels, a passenger-side door mirror, and tucked under fender flares. And also a turn signal repeaters which are mounted on the front fenders adds a finishing look.
It comes with a floor-mounted console, a cigarette lighter, a radio, and an electric clock. These items were a bigger deal in 1979.
In addition, its special models received a thicker carpet, a specific cloth upholstery, a tachometer, and a two-spoke steering wheel.
However, there were no mechanical modifications. Every special model is being shipped with a 44 horsepower that comes from a 1.1-liter engine with a four-speed manual transmission. As of then, only 5,000 units of it were made.
