When relating to sedans, Acura is one automaker that shouldn’t be left aside and now its image will improve with this 2021 Acura TLX. As they have very cool and awesome sedans. It’s however true that people are now going in favor of SUVs over sedans. But even at that, automakers of sedans haven’t given up on them. And now Acura is here to offer you that which you desire a sedan to have.
2021 Acura TLX Review
The company has completely redesigned and repositioned it’s latest TLX luxury sports sedan. So if you are among those who prefer an entertaining and awesome cool car over a family SUV, then this car is just for you.
This new TLX is first and foremost a driver-oriented sports sedan. As it has Acura’s newfound focus on a pleasing gamble for people who still like sitting low in a vehicle.
2021 Acura TLX Designed carefully as a Rear-wheel drive car
According to the company, the new TLX sits on a new Acura-dedicated platform. But however, the newness of this particular platform goes beyond its brand specificity. And when talking about the design details, they are really interesting. The car now looks longer, wider, and lower than it did before, with the proportions of a rear-wheel-drive vehicle. It’s a front-wheel-drive vehicle with an optional all-wheel-drive.
Acura has stretched the wheelbase of the car by 3.7 inches and increase the dash-to-axle ratio (the distance between the base of the windshield and the center point of the front wheels) by 7.8 inches. With this, the TLX was able to gain a long-hood, short-trunk look that is mostly seen in RWD cars like the Alfa Romeo Giulia or Mercedes-Benz C-Class. This makes an impact on the overall look of the TLX.
This new TLX doesn’t disappoint us as Acura has done its homework and delivered to its fans and the outside world a proper sports sedan. And this sedan is designed to entertain its driver through an engaging driving experience. It’s an overall best improvement is from the power delivery and chassis balance to the ride quality and astonishing serenity in the cabin.
The 2021 TLX doesn’t feel like a warmed-over Honda, neither does it look like one either. The improvements to chassis rigidity join with improved weight distribution and redesigned front suspension.
This new TLX is quite agile as it can quickly make turns in a highway or twisty roads at an elevated speed. The car responds with eagerness. The automaker made some changes in the suspension equipment depending on which of the four trim levels you obtain. The four trims are base TLX, Tech, A-Spec, and Advance. All the trims get a standard sport suspension except for the Advance trim. And the Advance gets an electronic Adaptive Damper (shock absorber) system. Both of them are tuned to the softer base suspension coming across as compliant and properly damped.
2021 Acura TLX Engine and Powertrain
No matter the trim level that you go for, the powertrain option available for now is the 2.0-liter VTEC-equipped four-cylinder engine. And the engine makes 272 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. The engine replaces both the 2.4-liter four-cylinder and the V-6 engine in the old TLX. This however means that the base cars obtain a massive bump in performance. And the higher-trim cars see two cylinders and a few horses go missing, but an improvement in peak torque. The available transmission is a 10-speed standard automatic that replaces last year’s 9-speed.
